Assalamualaikum. BSL FANTASY IS BACK! THIS YEAR WE ARE GOING BIGGER AND BETTER.

Pick your ultimate BSL team of your friends/teammates and compete against the rest of the league for over $2300 worth of prizes. Each participant will receive a BSL sleeve to match your 2025 team colours.

The 2025 BSL Fantasy Pool will have 2 dates on which prizes will be won. The first set of prizes will be awarded to the top 4 teams at the midseason mark (after week 4 is completed), while larger prizes will be awarded to the top teams at the end of the BSL Regular season. The prizes available to be won are:

The cost to join the fantasy pool is $25/entry. All proceeds from this charity drive will be sent directly to Islamic Relief Canada. Multiple entries allowed.

Once your team is built, the progress of the selected players will be tracked weekly for the entire season at https://www.brotherhoodsoftball.com/?p=fantasy-stats, and points will be allocated based on the following system:
Single: 1 Point
Double: 1.25 Points
Triple: 1.5 Points
Homerun: 1.75 Points
Run: 0.5 Points
RBI: 0.25 Points
BB: 0.75 Points
SF: 0.5 Points
SO: -0.5 Points

First tie breaker is first to register so register your team early. Good luck and enjoy.

2024 Champions - Seljuqs

The Seljuqs beat the Sultans 6-3 in game 2 of the BSL finals. The Sultans rocked the Seljuqs in game 1, jumping out to an early 9-1 lead after 2 innings. As the game went on, the Seljuqs started to find their defense again and picked up confidence at the plate. The Sultans ran away with game 1 with a score of 12-5. As the only undefeated team in the tournament, Seljuqs had an opportunity to cash in their insurance policy. Game 2 started as a defensive battle, with both teams playing solid D. After 3 innings, the score was tied 3-3. The Seljuqs kept chipping at the scoreboard and put up 1 and 2 in the following innings to take a 6-3 lead going into the 7th. Sultans got their leadoff runner on and had it not been for an Ammer Askary diving catch for the 2nd out, the momentum could have swung the Sultans way. The Seljuqs shut down the Sultans for the final 4 innings of the game to take a 6-3 victory. Congratulations to the Seljuqs and well done to the Sultans who battled 5 games in the tourney to take it right to the end. Playoff MVP goes to Zahid Merchant for a 0.733 average in the playoffs and lockdown pitching every game.

The title was the fourth for Zahid Merchant (2014, 2027, 2019); second for Atif Khan (2015), Hassan Chaudhry (2016), Shoaib Gaya (2021), Umer Jabbar (2015), Zaid Ghansar (2021), Zayd Ramjaun (2019); and the first for Ammer Askary, Ali Hadi, Farhan Shah, Hashim Ghazi, Luqman Arshad, and Shahan Salim. Congratulations!

This Sunday August 25th is the BSL All-Star festivities at Beaty Park (https://maps.app.goo.gl/oNAhWF4jaB9wmM2v6) in Milton. The festivities begin at 6:30pm with the Home Run derby followed by the All-Star game.

2024 Preseason update #2:

Assalamualaikum. We are getting closer to the start of the season. All the details are being sorted out. Here are some latest updates for the upcoming season:

Please contribute to our charity campaign to support Gaza immigrants living with nothing. We hope each player can take it upon themselves to raise a minimum of $500 for this campaign if not more. Zakat eligible. Get your friends and family to support this initiative. InshaAllah when we reach our goal, there will be some amazing things for the league this year. Let's reach our goal of $50K inshaAllah.

Every team will have 3 bye weeks this season, your GM will be responsible for picking the bye weeks, provide your input here: https://forms.gle/n1tS2ds7LdjHP84F6

Changes for 2024:
Mid-season tournament: The first 6 games of the season for each team will count towards the standings for the Mid-season tournament. After week 4, the top 4 teams will advance to the semis that will be played on Friday June 14th 6:30pm at Drumquin Park. Two semis + final will crown the annual Mid-season tournament winner. Playoff rules apply in the tournament playoffs.

Courtesy runners: Teams will be allowed 4 courtesy runners this year. If a team has an injury, GMs can agree to allow that one person unlimited courtesies but then the team is only allowed 3 courtesies for the rest of the team. Last out is still the courtesy runner

Playoff rules: If a team is missing a player in the playoffs, they will be given auto-outs based on the round the player was drafted in. Failure to attend playoff games will result in a penalty for the team in auto-outs.

Playoff format: BSL will have a double elimination playoff format this year. Higher seed will be home team for the entire playoffs. Games will be played Sunday Sept 8th, Saturday Sept 14th and Sunday Sept 15th all between 9am and 3pm. All 8 teams make the playoffs. Please keep your schedules clear for those dates.

Zero tolerance policy: We will have a zero tolerance policy going forward. Any abusive behaviour, aggressive chirping or slander of anyone in the league will be dealt with harshly. There will be no warnings. This is a recreational league amongst brothers. Brotherhood and sportsmanship come first, competition comes second.

Assalamualaikum. We are excited to announce that Drumquin Park (Milton) will be the new home for BSL this year.

We will also be playing at a new time slot between 9am to 3pm.

Tentatively, every month each team will have 2 weeks at 9am-12pm, 1 week at 12-3pm and 1 week bye.
Registration will open for returning players this week. We have some really exciting activities to the league planned for this year. You don't want to miss it.
